The church built in the ninth century was repeatedly renovated and restored, which resulted in the northern annex, as well as the bell-tower erected on the south-west. During the renovation of the structure in the second half of the tenth century, a donor relief with a vast inscription was placed as the hoodmold of the window on the east façade of the church (the text is presently damaged), and the interior was embellished with aniconic decoration.
